Pumpkin Seed Fun!!

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin Seeds are packed with healthy vitamins and Omega 3’s. This delicious recipe will reduce waste from carving pumpkins and make a healthy Halloween Treat for the whole family.
 
First, rinse pumpkin seeds leftover from pumpkin carving in cool water. Kids can help remove all the pulp with their fingers for some slimy fun! Drain the water and spread pumpkin seeds out over a cookie sheet to dry overnight.
 
The next day….
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with non-stick foil.
Toss the seeds in olive oil or butter. Let kids help you choose a flavor combination and then sprinkle with salt, garlic or onion powder, maybe even seasoned salt or cayenne pepper.
When the seeds are ready, bake them for about 1 hour, tossing every 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool pumpkin seeds before eating (although it might be hard to wait!) Store in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate.
Note: Pumpkin seeds are also known as pepitas
